When gluing and welding various products, ordinary clamps are not always convenient to use, since they do not reach the workpieces located in the middle of the table or workbench. Therefore, it is possible to make a home-made clamp from profile pipes, which will cope with the task without problems.
The main stages of work
Using a grinder or on a band saw from a profile pipe with side dimensions of 20x30 mm, it is necessary to cut two identical pieces 28 cm long. Also for this homemade product, you will need to cut another piece of the profile, but already shorter - 15 cm long.
At the ends of two long sections (280 mm long) of the profile pipe, it is necessary to weld the “ears” with mounting holes. You can make them from a steel strip of 25x25 mm or pieces of a profile of 40x25 mm, having previously cut off one of the sides with a grinder to get U-shaped parts.
Then, using bolts and nuts, we fasten a section of a profile pipe 150 mm long to the "ears", after having pre-drilled mounting holes. Then, a piece of 20 cm long will need to be cut from a 20x30 mm profile. A hole for an M16 hairpin is drilled in it at a distance of about 1-2 cm from the edge.
Assembly assembly
A 200 mm profile is welded to the main parts. An M6 internal thread is cut in the stud so that a piece of a 40x25 mm profile pipe is fastened to the top with a bolt. At the end of the stud, a steel washer is pre-welded, which serves as a support for the profile.
At the last stage of work, we collect all the structural elements, weld sponges and a knob. The result was a very practical homemade clamp to use, which is useful both for gluing wooden products, and in the process of welding metal billets.
