With the help of this homemade ring bending machine (this device is also called a “tire bending machine”) made of a profile, steel plates and profile pipes 40x20 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm can be bent into rings of different diameters. The minimum diameter of the ring is 205 mm.
The design of the ring bending machine is quite simple, therefore, everyone can make such a machine, especially since the materials will need the simplest:
- rectangular steel plate;
- profile pipe 60x60 mm;
- screw with a diameter of 20 mm for the 304th bearing;
- a cage for the bearing of a round pipe.
The main stages of work
From sheet metal with a thickness of 2-3 mm, we cut out two rectangular plates: one is used as a base, the second is a lid. In the upper plate it is necessary to make a cut in the center for free movement of the carriage.
Two profiles 60x60 mm are welded to the base, a third profile is inserted between them with a screw and a shaft with a thread for the bearing (movable carriage). A bearing is threaded onto a threaded shaft in a cage to which the handle is welded.
Two more rollers made of bearings and pieces of steel round pipe are welded on the sides of the upper plate. Bearings in this case are used with an inner diameter of 20 mm and an outer diameter of 52 mm.
The assembled metal structure is attached to the table or workbench using bolts with nuts (other mounting options can also be used). In principle, it turned out to be a fairly powerful ring-bending machine made of budget materials, which is useful in a home workshop and garage.
