When working with wood and metal blanks in the home workshop, a simple and easy-to-use wedge clamp (long clamp), which you can make yourself from ordinary scrap metal, can come in handy. You can use this device as an alternative to a vise or ordinary clamps.

For the manufacture of a clamp, an equal-angle bracket 32x32 mm, a strip of metal 25 mm wide, a profile pipe of square section 25x25 mm, and also a bolt with an elongated nut M16 are required. All these materials can be found in scrap metal without any problems. If necessary, you can buy it - it's all cheap.

The main stages of work

First of all, you need to cut a small length of about 40-50 cm from a square profile pipe 25x25 mm. Then you will need to cut two more workpieces at an angle of 25 degrees from the metal strip. And another piece of strip must be cut at right angles.

After that, all three workpieces must be welded together, attaching them to the walls of the profile, however, it is necessary to maintain a small gap so that there is no jamming during the movement of this carriage. To do this, on one side you can put a piece of sandpaper.

On the reverse side of the carriage you need to weld a piece of the 32x32 mm corner. You will also need another piece of the corner to make a second sponge. To attach a stud with a knob to it, you will need to weld a metal plate with a hole in the center to one of the shelves.

The detailed process of manufacturing and assembling a convenient wyme clamp from ordinary scrap metal can be seen in the video on the website.
