For splitting logs usually use a special ax - cleaver. However, it is more a male tool. For example, women and adolescents will have a hard time treating him. Therefore, for them, you can make a simple adaptation for splitting firewood, made from a conventional ring spanner and trimmings.
The design of a homemade splitter is very simple - you can make such a device in 1-2 hours. From the main tool for work, you will need a grinder with a cutting disc, as well as a welding machine (you can use both a transformer and an inverter for welding fittings).
The main stages of work
The first step is to weld the wood splitter base. To do this, cut four reinforcing bars of the same length, and weld them together at a right angle to get a square frame. Inside we insert a cross from two pieces of reinforcement and also scald.
At the next stage of work, we weld four vertical posts to the base. From above we put on a small square, welded from reinforcement, and fix it with tacks. Then it is necessary to weld the cross-member between two vertical posts (at a distance of 15-20 cm from the top edge).
Next, you will need to make a knife, which will chop wood. To do this, we will use the old cap key. With the help of gas burners we heat it in the middle red-hot to give a curved shape. After that, we sharpen the curved part and cut off the excess with the grinder.
