Making a beautiful and original countertop for a coffee table is not at all difficult. Moreover, for this it is not necessary to have design skills or the talent of the artist. First you need to make the countertop itself: glue the wooden board and cut out a circle of the required diameter.
Before proceeding with further surface treatment, the countertop must be well sanded with an orbital sander. Next, we need an epoxy resin with a hardener and various dyes.
Dilute the epoxy with the hardener (observe the proportions indicated by the manufacturer - as a rule, they are indicated on the package). Add a white dye, and then fill the first layer of epoxy on the surface of the countertop, which is installed on a horizontal base.
The main stages of work
In the next step, we dilute the second part of the epoxy resin and pour it into glasses. We add dyes of a certain color to them (which ones you like more). Then we install a piece of plastic pipe or container without a bottom on the surface of the countertop, and pour a colored epoxy into it.
After that, with arbitrary translational movements, we “smear” the epoxy resin over the surface, mixing it with a white base. At this stage, it is important that everything works out the first time - there will be no second attempt.
Then we wait until the epoxy hardens a little and cover it with a finish layer of epoxy, but this time it is transparent. At the last stage, we grind and polish the surface. For more information on how to perform an unusual way of applying a pattern to a countertop, see the video on the site.
