From the usual manual clamp (more commonly known under the nickname "dog") you will get a convenient home-made clamp. This homemade product is very easy to manufacture, useful in the home workshop and garage.
In addition to manual clamping, metal trimmings will also be required, which can be found in the bins of a thrifty master without problems. First of all, it is necessary to trim the upper (fixed) clamping jaw of a manual clamp with a grinder.
After that, we cut off all the excess, leaving only the "stub" of the sponge, and weld it to a piece of steel strip of rectangular shape. Before welding, the metal must be cleaned from rust, dirt and oil stains, if any "defects" are present.
The main stages of work
Cut off a piece of steel strip of the desired length, as well as pieces of plates. The strip in this case will be the frame of the clamp. Rectangular sections of the plate are welded to the clamping jaw cut off from the manual clamp.
Then the back wall is also welded so that the sponge itself moves only up and down the frame. At the last stage of the work, it remains only to weld a strip of metal to the upper part of the clamp where the sponge was cut. We clean welds. If desired, the tool can be painted.
