According to the good old tradition, on Valentine's Day celebration, which is celebrated by all lovers all over the world, it is customary to give each other original souvenirs made in the shape of a heart - the so-called "valentines".
Usually they are made of paper or sew from fabric using a soft filler. But you can make these souvenirs from plywood or a more noble material - natural wood.
And in this case, it will not be just ordinary valentines in a classic representation, but home-made coasters for scented candles.
Finished products, despite the external simplicity, turn out to be stylish, and look very original in the interior of any room.
The main stages of work
First of all, it is necessary to determine the size of future wooden valentines, after which you can proceed to gluing the blanks.
In this case, the master uses the scraps that remained with him after making other homemade products. However, you can use any materials that are at hand - plywood, particleboard or wood with a beautiful texture.
At the next stage, it is necessary to transfer the pattern to the blanks, and then cut out the hearts. The author deliberately chose a valentine's shape with sharp corners so as not to be sawn with a jigsaw, but only with a miter saw.
Further, the cut blanks will need to be well sanded. This can be done on the grinder or using a angle grinder with a petal circle. Edges can be machined manually for a more aesthetic look.
At the last stage of work, it remains only to drill the seats for candles using a Forstner drill. Finished products can be varnished or waxed.
