In this review, the author shares his new “creative” idea - how to make a collapsible chain saw for a hike with your own hands. The idea itself is not new, but the execution in this case is very original.
To make a collapsible saw, you will need a chain from an electric or chainsaw (and it is desirable that the chain itself is in normal condition) and three sections of the profile pipe.
First of all, it will be necessary to cut a piece of profile with a section of 15 * 15 mm, as well as two pieces of 10 * 10 mm. Moreover, the edges of the workpieces must be cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
The main stages of work
In one of the short sections of the profile, the author, using a grinder, makes a cut so that one edge of the chain can be fixed.
To another segment, he welds a piece of a round pipe into which a bolt will be inserted. It is also necessary to make a cut in the head of the bolt.
After that, it remains to make small grooves in short sections of the profile (10 * 10 mm), and you can begin to assemble the saw. The degree of chain tension is adjusted using a bolt and nut.
In terms of practicality, the saw may be convenient: it sawed wood, disassembled it and put it in a backpack. But the rest is homemade this "so-so." Sawing with a chain with your hands is not an easy task, because the size and shape of the teeth do not allow you to perform reciprocating movements.
