You can make a topiary from anything, but the craftsmen use special love for ribbons, coffee beans, corrugated paper, used as decoration for the crown of a tree.
Chestnut is considered one of the most common natural materials for the manufacture of crafts. You can use chestnuts to create a topiary.
In order to make chestnut topiary, you will need:
• old newspapers,
• twine
• scissors,
• Super glue,
• double sided tape,
• gypsum,
• a flower pot or any similar packaging,
• chestnuts and a thick branch,
• felt,
• corrugated paper, satin and paper ribbons for decoration.
To make the ball base, you need to crush the old newspapers and, giving them a round shape, tighten tightly with twine, thereby fixing the figure. Of course, you can buy a special foam ball in the store for the manufacture of such crafts, but using unnecessary newspapers is very economical.
Make a small hole in the resulting ball and, pouring it with superglue, insert a branch inside. Wrap the stick itself with a rope, previously lubricating the twig with glue.
Take a flower pot or any other container and knead gypsum in it, diluting it with a small amount of water. If desired, the pot can be decorated with ribbons and a bow.
When the gypsum begins to harden a little, place the base for the topiary in the pot and wait for the alabaster mixture to dry completely. Cut a circle from felt equal to the diameter of the pot, and lay it on top, hiding with it defects on dried gypsum.
Then you can start gluing chestnuts to the ball. To make them fit better, use not only glue, but also double-sided tape. Try to fix the chestnuts as close to each other as possible so that there is no free space. At the end of the work, fill in the gaps between the chestnuts with leaves cut out of corrugated paper.
From a thin satin ribbon, make several small bows and decorate the crown of the tree and the trunk with them. The chestnut topiary is ready. It will not be a shame to hand over such a craft as a presentation to relatives and friends or use it to decorate the interior.
