We take care of a good view from the car in the winter, we will figure out the device and the installation of heated mirrors ourselves. To do this, consider a universal heater, which is installed additionally on cars without this option.
The heating element, without consuming a lot of electricity, is able to work efficiently to a very low temperature (some manufacturers claim up to minus 50 ° C). The heated spiral located on the film helps melt the ice and evaporate moisture from the side mirrors.
For installation you will need:
- heating elements
- about 3-7 meters of wire (depending on the car) with a cross section of at least 1.5 cm2
- 5-7.5 A fuse with block
- electrical tape or heat shrink (as you prefer)
- heating button
- four contact relay
Ratio size / power / price from different manufacturers of mirror heating

Mounting heating on the mirror
In order to remove the mirror from the plastic frame without consequences, you need to heat the plastic, you can do this with a hairdryer or by putting the entire element in hot water.
Having taken out the mirror, degrease it and gently stick the film with a spiral. The film must be placed with heating paths to the glass, electrical contacts in the direction of the car. Starting from the plug, gradually removing the mounting layer, press the heater tightly against the glass, smoothing evenly across the entire width of the mirror to the opposite edge. Avoid air bubbles under the film with a spiral, which will be the key to long-term work.
Options for connecting to standard wiring
One convenient way is to connect the heated side mirrors to the rear window defroster. The disadvantage of such a connection will be increased energy load, without the possibility of disconnecting one of the consumers. A more correct option is to output a separate button. In any case, a 5-7.5 A fuse should be present in the circuit you are connecting. There is no plus or minus for the heating element, so it does not matter how to connect the wires to it.
